about

How do you describe music? I'm not talking about the dictionary definition here. Music can be harsh and gentle, it can lift you up and break you down. It can be abrasive or gentle. But most importantly, it's heart-warming and provokes 'inner stories' and what I call 'theatre of mind'.

All of the above-mentioned facts, depictions and adjectives can be found in SCART's release.
Having grown-up in West Yorkshire and within its surrounding post-industrial landscapes serving as a backdrop, these elements have inevitably shaped his view of sounds and the world around him. 'North's Past' perfectly captures the current ‘spirit’ of Northern England with its now run-down factories and businesses. What once used to be a thriving landscape within the beating heart of Britain's leading industries has now been transformed into something dark and gloomy, stuck in a lost land that time forgot.

Here's where the music comes in. The tracks on this album depict the socio-geographical decline of an environment and maybe also the artist's feelings towards it. They start off rather gently and turn harsher towards the end. It's most certainly a bleak and rough album but at the same time it offers an original nostalgic and warm look into the world of West Yorkshire. The listeners will see in their minds the very remnants of the past.

Shaped around regional TV samples, Yorkshire conventions, gloomy industrial atmospheres and chilling drones sits an album that is indeed equally gentle as it is abrasive. Proud to introduce SCART to our artist roster.
